Welcome To The Apocalypse

Like a lot of people right now post-inauguration, I’m scared. Scared for my trans friends, scared for my BIPOC friends, scared for my job for the first time ever, scared for my kids, scared for my country, scared for my own safety & security… these are scary times we’re living in! But not unprecedented, which is half the fear. We’ve seen how this ends, and not all of us are gonna make it. 😔

Being Canadian, the law wouldn’t pertain to me as far as jail time, or distribution, or even making it, I don’t think, but it would affect the US-based platforms I post adult content on, as well as the US-based adult site I work for behind the scenes and its sister sites, and there goes 100% of my income.

I’m not sure how the adult content platforms I post on are going to handle this because they haven’t said publicly and I’m obviously not privy to any behind the scenes knowledge there. I don’t know if they have parent companies or if they’re their own entities, or where their servers are located. I also don’t know anything about their CEOs. I’m just a camgirl on those platforms, and in the dark like everyone else.

I’m guessing My Lovely Money Job has provisions in place, to move our US servers offshore and host our company’s sites elsewhere, then we’ll have to block the US from visiting them. Just from a free speech angle, and knowing our CEO/the people in charge, our sites will stay up until their last dying breath on principle. We will jump through all their hoops to keep on, keepin’ on. If our sites continue to exist offshore, my job should be safe because I’m Canadian.

Where it could pose a problem in my world I think, is if it turns out my American coworkers – like office people, not content creators – could be jailed for working in the adult industry within the US, even if the 3rd party content we distribute is not available in the US. Since they themselves have to access adult material in order to do their jobs, if porn is banned in their states, would their jobs then become illegal and they could potentially face jail time?

Most of my American coworkers have lives, kids, pets, and families local to them, they can’t just relocate outside the country for a few years until this all blows over, especially not for a customer service job – and it’s a seriously scary time to be unemployed. It’s them who I worry about the most. 😔🙏

I’m not sure how these laws will apply to individuals sending nudes to one another, for example, but I’m guessing that American camgirls won’t be able to sell content anymore, or cam live in the nude, since that would be creating porn and distributing it within the US. Can you imagine being told you can’t do any of those things or face criminal charges? Like, that’s some 1930’s Germany shit right there.

Since there were no serious laws put on the table to criminalize adult content on the state level until literally last week, it’s hard to say how hard line the Trump regime is gonna go on this. But the more states that follow suit, the worse it’s gonna be because Trump goes with what he thinks is popular.

Currently, 19 states have put in place “age-gating” laws where adult sites have to get ID from each person in those states, to verify they’re 18, in order for them to access our sites. That’s over 1/3! This is such overkill and a privacy nightmare for adult sites and you, for probably obvious reasons!

In case you haven’t thought it through, we don’t want to store photos of people’s driver’s licences and you, as a private citizen just trying to enjoy the show, really don’t want to be uploading your ID to websites willy nilly like that. Identity theft is real! Normalizing uploading your ID to websites is a terrible idea!

This is the literal end of anonymity on the internet! Not to mention, it leaves the website liable for anything that could potentially happen as a result of having those IDs, like if they were hacked or something.

Like what about camgirls like me who run their own sites? If I were American, would you have to show ME your ID? How fucked up is that?!?

The precedent cited before the US Supreme Court last week was that adults had to present ID to a cashier in order to buy an adult magazine. But then it was argued that a cashier does NOT also keep copies of your ID and a short video of your face in a vault so they can ID you next time.

So what does Tennessee do the day after the hearing? Their new law that went into effect last week, requires adults, accessing perfectly legal material, to upload their ID and show their face to AI facial recognition software every 60 minutes, in order to continue viewing that material.

Let me rephrase that:

The government wants us to check in on you, every 60 minutes, and make you complete a 4-minute ID process, while you’re in the middle of jerking off or mackin’ on a camgirl.

If that sounds ludicrous to you, write your politicians, donate to the Free Speech Coalition who is fighting these laws, along with the ACLU, and stop voting against your own interests, I guess. We’re in for at least 4 years of this! Maybe longer if Shitler somehow extends his term! 🤷🏼‍♀️

Like seriously folks, anonymity and freedom of speech online are at stake here, banning porn is just the easiest avenue to make it happen. We’re the canaries in the coal mine, and we are screaming our lungs out! Please pay attention! 👏
